Chinese New Year

Tonight we’re entering the year of the Dragon. It is said to bring prosperity, courage, success and love, amongst other things. I went to a Chinese New Year celebration event at the Church Hill Theatre in Edinburgh today. Most people there were Chinese but it was very interesting to watch all the performers. There were dancers, singers, musicians and martial artists to name a few. I will upload some shots from the event shortly!

I’m born in the year of the rabbit (fire rabbit to be more specific). Rabbits are creative, compassionate, expressive, sensitive, friendly and enjoys the company of others. It is also said that rabbits prefer to avoid conflict and that close bonds with friends and family are very important. Rabbits enjoy learning about people from other countries and cultural issues, as well as being stylish and well-mannered.

All of these traits define me pretty well, which I find very interesting! However, due to the sensitive quality, rabbits tend to shy away from aggressive or competitive situations as they are not eager to take risks. This is something that sounds familiar, although I do very much intend to overcome this quality. I’m taking one small step at a time.

I’m personally hoping for the year of the Dragon to bring lots of courage and success. I will be trying to embrace change rather than fear it.
